Well, we definitely Brightened things up last night 🔥🔥 Myself and Mr @scan_art explored a couple of locations for some steel wool shots and this place ticked all the boxes. Aidan kindly obliged and jumped up into one of the windows on the left to give a sense of scale to the size of this place 😁👌 . . #nathanwynnephotography #scan_art #findmeonfacebook #galwaycityphotographs #canonshooter #steelwoolphotography #abbey #friary #tombstone #nightowl #sundayfunday #explore #urbexphotography #urbexexploration #urbandecay #abandonedireland #shotoncanon #5dmarkii #fire #hot🔥#lovegalway #thisisgalway #ourbeautifuluniverse #loveireland🍀 #galway #urbexexploration #galwaycityphotographs #galway #shotoncanon #abbey #urbexphotography #loveireland🍀 #findmeonfacebook #scan_art #hot🔥 #explore #canonshooter #steelwoolphotography #ourbeautifuluniverse #tombstone #urbandecay #friary #sundayfunday #nathanwynnephotography #nightowl #abandonedireland #thisisgalway #fire #5dmarkii #lovegalway
We shouldn't worry, but, what caused this outburst of V838 Monocerotis? For reasons unknown, star V838 Mon's outer surface suddenly expanded causing it to become the brightest star in the entire Milky Way galaxy in January 2002. Then, just as suddenly, it faded. A stellar flash like this had never been seen before — supernovas and novas expel matter out into space. Although the V838 Mon flash appears to expel material into space, what is seen in the image from Hubble is actually an outwardly moving light echo of the bright flash. In a light echo, light from the flash is reflected by successively more distant rings in the complex array of ambient interstellar dust that already surrounded the star. #astronomylover #orion #amongthestars #galaxys #rocketlaunch #planetary #constellations #unicorns #celestial #spacecraft #galaxies #spacestation #galactic #stars_bw #spaceshuttle #theuniverse #constellation #solarsystem #monocerotis #outerspace #universelover #soyuz #telescope #universetoday #moonart #galaxyart #ourbeautifuluniverse #v838
Auroras on Jupiter! 🔥 🌀 . Astronomers have used Hubble to study auroras — stunning light shows in a planet’s atmosphere — on the poles of the largest planet in the solar system, Jupiter. Jupiter is best known for its colorful storms, the most famous being the Great Red Spot. Now astronomers have focused on another beautiful feature of the planet, using Hubble's ultraviolet capabilities to image Jupiter's auroras. Credit: NASA/Hubble
Wow Factor: in 3, 2, 1... 💥  Hubble has unveiled in stunning detail a small section of the expanding remains of a massive star that exploded about 8,000 years ago. Called the Veil Nebula, the debris is one of the best-known supernova remnants, deriving its name from its delicate, draped filamentary structures. The entire nebula is 110 light-years across, covering an area equal to six full moons on the sky as seen from Earth, and resides about 2,100 light-years away in the constellation Cygnus, the Swan.
Meet #NGC5949. Thanks to its proximity to Earth — it sits at a distance of around 44 million light-years from us, placing it within the Milky Way’s cosmic neighborhood — NGC 5949 is a perfect target for astronomers to study dwarf galaxies. With a mass of about a hundredth that of the Milky Way, NGC 5949 is a relatively bulky example of a dwarf galaxy. Its classification as a dwarf is due to its relatively small number of constituent stars, but the galaxy’s loosely bound spiral arms also place it in the category of barred spirals. This structure is just visible in this image, which shows the galaxy as a bright yet ill-defined pinwheel. #ngc5949
Photo- bomb! 📷 💣 That little spec trial is Phobos, one of Mars' moons being shot in 13 separate exposures by the Hubble Telescope. . The sharp eye of NASA's Hubble Space Telescope has captured the tiny moon Phobos during its orbital trek around Mars. Because the moon is so small, it appears star-like in the Hubble pictures. Over the course of 22 minutes, Hubble took 13 separate exposures, allowing astronomers to create a time-lapse video showing the diminutive moon's orbital path. The Hubble observations were intended to photograph Mars, and the moon's cameo appearance was a bonus.
🔭 🔥 😱. . Called the Hubble Ultra Deep Field (HUDF), this million-second-long exposure reveals the first galaxies to emerge from the so-called "dark ages," the time shortly after the big bang when the first stars reheated the cold, dark universe. This image offered new insights into what types of objects reheated the universe long ago. This historic new view is actually two separate images taken by Hubble's Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS) and the Near Infrared Camera and Multi-Object Spectrometer (NICMOS). Both images reveal galaxies that are too faint to be seen by ground-based telescopes, or even in Hubble's previous faraway looks, called the Hubble Deep Fields (HDFs), taken in 1995 and 1998. #astronomylover #astronomy #orion #amongthestars #galaxys #rocketlaunch #constellations #celestial #telescopes #galaxies #galactic #stars_bw #spaceshuttle #theuniverse #hubbleulstradeepfield #orionsbelt #constellation #nasa #solarsystem #universelover #outerspace #soyuz #telescope #universetoday #universelove #moonart #ourbeautifuluniverse #planets
Dizzy yet? 🌀 💥 This giant cluster of about 3,000 stars is called Westerlund 2. The cluster resides inside a vibrant stellar breeding ground known as Gum 29, located 20,000 light-years away in the constellation Carina. The comparatively young, two-million-year-old star cluster contains some of our galaxy's hottest, brightest, and most massive stars. The largest stars are unleashing a torrent of ultraviolet light and hurricane-force winds that etch away the enveloping hydrogen gas cloud. This creates a fantastic celestial landscape of pillars, ridges, and valleys. Credit: NASA/Hubble

This is an animation of the neutron star dust cloud from earlier in the week. 🌟  This animation depicts a neutron star with a disk of warm dust that produces an infrared signature as detected by Hubble. The disk wasn’t directly photographed, but one way to explain the data is by hypothesizing a disk structure that could be 18 billion miles across. The disk would be made up of material falling back onto the neutron star after the supernova explosion that created the stellar remnant. #astronomylover #amongthestars #galaxys #rocketlaunch #planetary #constellations #celestial #telescopes #spacecraft #galaxies #spacestation #galactic #stars_bw #spaceshuttle #neutronstar #theuniverse #orionsbelt #constellation #solarsystem #universelover #outerspace #soyuz #universetoday #universelove #moonart #galaxyart #ourbeautifuluniverse
⭐Here is a small compilation of some close up surface images of the moon I took over the past few days! I love how you are able to differiante between different landscapes and it's also a lot of fun trying to find out the names of the different craters. Another great selfie! 📱 Wave to NASA's Curiosity rover,  taken on Sol 2082 (June 15, 2018). A Martian dust storm has reduced sunlight and visibility at the rover's location in Gale Crater. Self-portraits are created using images taken by Curiosity's Mars Hands Lens Imager (MAHLI). MAHLI was built by Malin Space Science Systems, San Diego. NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, a division of Caltech in Pasadena, manages the Mars Science Laboratory Project for the NASA Science Mission Directorate, Washington. 💫 ⭐️️ 🌟 ✨ ⚡️️ ☄️ 💥 This is Barnard 68. He is a molecular cloud or a dark absorption nebula positioned towards the southern constellation Ophiuchus and well within our own galaxy at a distance of about 400 light-years, so close that not a single star can be seen between it and the Sun. The cloud's mass is about twice that of the Sun, and it measures about half a light-year across. Barnard 68's well-defined edges and other features show that it is on the verge of gravitational collapse followed by becoming a star within the next 200,000 years or so. 💫 ⭐️️ 🌟 ✨ ⚡️️ ☄️ 💥

So @nasahubble found a strange infrared emission around a neutron star. One possibility, shown here, is that there is a dusty disk surrounding the neutron star. . 💥🌀 Although neutron stars are generally studied in radio and high-energy emissions, such as X-rays, this study demonstrates that new and interesting information about neutron stars can also be gained by studying them in infrared light.
