Childe Hassam (1859-1935) East Hampton, N.Y.), painter and printmaker, one of the foremost exponents of French Impressionism in American art.
Hassam studied in Boston and Paris (1886–89), where he fell under the influence of the Impressionists and took to painting in brilliant colour with touches of pure pigment. On his return from Paris he settled in New York City, where he became a member of the group known as The Ten.
His works are distinctive for their freshness and clear luminous atmosphere. Scenes of New York life remained his favourite subject matter—e.g., Washington Arch, Spring (1890). He also painted landscapes of New England and rural New York that, with their intense blue skies, lush foliage, and shimmering white light, became especially popular..

Exhibition <<Incompleted Ruin>> The exhibition, 2019 Title Match <Incompleted Ruin> is attracting people, which is held at Bul-Seoul Museum of Art located in Nowongu Seoul.
Title Match is a curated exhibition by Buk-Seoul Museum of Art since 2014 to show synergy created by two competitive artists.
Gim Hongsok and Seo Hyun-Suk were the artists selected for this year.
Gim is the artists who has explored the social problems in various ways like performance, video and installation. The social problems of modernization led by the state and the relationship between space and people are the points that Seo has been interested in.
Gim tried to inquire the keyword “incomplete” through styrofoam sculpture and decaying apples. In doing so, he want to criticize the social points of view which regards incompleteness, something is becoming, imperfection as negative or to be improved or to be enlightened. Seo presented the keyword “ruin” as an allegory of ruined museum and art world through VR image and a fallen status. These works probably would be the questions whether art can change the world is still valid.
Even though the heavy subject of the exhibition, the exhibition is becoming a hot issue due to the VR media and unpredicted audiences’ performance who tried to set the fallen status upright.
The exhibition will be held until September 15 this year.
You should keep in mind that Seo Hyun-seok's images and performances can be viewed by the appointed time. *the images from Buk-Seoul Museum of Art and Chosun.com
