My Encounter with Saint Paisios the Athonite in 1986:
By Archpriest Panagiotis Papageorgiou
I consider it a great blessing that I was able to be in the presence of this humble giant of our Faith. This was a defining moment for me as I was searching for ways to anchor my faith in Christ. Elder Paisios stood as a beacon, as a light of Christ’s love, His humility and sacrifice.

Elder Paisios was gifted with the spiritual gift of discernment and was able to read the souls of those he encountered. He showed great compassion for the people who came to him from all over Greece and eventually from around the world. People unloaded their problems at his feet. He would pray, guide and comfort them and they would walk away filled with joy and enlightened by his words. Elder Paisios lived on earth, but for him heaven was always open. The difference between the two was just a door, which some times opened into Heaven so that he might partake of the divine grace and sometimes it opened into this world so that he might be visited by Christ and the Saints. In one occasion, when he answered the door to his cell, the Theotokos walked in, followed by St. John the Evangelist and St. Euphemia. St. Euphemia stayed with the elder for hours describing to him her martyrdom and helping him resolve the issues he was praying about.

The elder prayed for specific groups of people at certain times. Through his prayers miracles would happen and people would come back to tell him about them. In one case, during the time that he was praying for travelers, a 9-year old boy was crossing the street in southern Greece unaware of a huge truck coming his way. Right before the moment of impact the boy was picked up by “this priest” who rushed to his aid, and suddenly thrown over to the other side of the street, thus saving his life. After landing on his feet, the child looked around, but the priest had disappeared. The father of the child embarked on a search to find the priest who saved his son’s life, wishing to thank him. The search finally led them both to the cell of elder Paisios on Mount Athos. (Continued below).

Saints Kyrikos & his mother Julitta, the Martyrs of Tarsus:
The Holy Martyrs Kyrikos and Julitta lived in the city of Iconium in the province of Lykaoneia in Asia Minor. Saint Julitta was descended from an illustrious family and was a Christian. Widowed early on, she raised her three-year old-son Kyrikos. During the emperor Diocletian’s persecution of Christians, Saint Julitta departed the city with her son and two trustworthy servants, leaving behind her home, property, and servants.
Concealing her noble rank, she hid out first at Seleucia, and then at Tarsus. There around the year 305 she was recognized, arrested and brought to trial before the governor, Alexander. Strengthened by the Lord, she fearlessly answered the judge’s questions, and firmly confessed her faith in Christ.
The governor gave orders to beat the saint with rods. During her torments Saint Julitta kept repeating, “I am a Christian, and will not offer sacrifice to demons.”
The little boy Kyrikos cried, seeing his mother being tortured, and wanted to go to her. The governor Alexander tried to sit him on his lap, but the boy broke free and shouted, “Let me go to my mother, I am a Christian.” The governor threw the boy down from the high tribunal and kicked him down the stone steps. The boy struck his head on the sharp edges and died.
Saint Julitta, seeing her lacerated son, gave thanks to God that He had permitted her child to be perfected before her, and to receive the unfading crown of martyrdom. After many cruel tortures Saint Julitta was beheaded with a sword.
The relics of Saints Kyrikos and Julitta were uncovered during the reign of St Constantine the Great (May 21). A monastery was built near Constantinople in honor of these holy martyrs, and a church was built not far from Jerusalem.
We pray to Saints Kyrikos and Julitta for family happiness, and the restoration of sick children to health.”
As evident from the wide range of icons from Greek, Russian and other traditions, Saints Kyrikos and Julitta are honored by many throughout the world, and their relics exist in numerous churches for the healing and support of the faithful. (See below).

K njegovim moštima pritiču i hrišćani i muslimani, i nalaze iscelenja u najtežim bolestima i mukama svojim.

A Miracle of Saint Nektarios of Aegina

St. Nektarios in general is often seen. Even without knowing him yet, without praying to him, without asking for anything, but already receiving the help requested by his prayers, there is plenty of evidence. Recently, two of our working women witnessed such an event: pilgrims come into the cell of the saint, among them was a woman who came from Africa, along with her son. The son is studying in Thessaloniki, she came to visit him, and the two of them went on a trip here, to Aegina. So, as soon as she came here, she stood rooted to the spot - not in a stupor, that is, the face is completely reasonable, namely, immovable, frozen. One of the sisters runs to her sister Mariam, asks for holy water to help the woman and then returns to the woman. She began to move and talk a little. The son translated her words:

One of the sisters runs to her sister Mariam, asks for holy water to help the woman and then returns to the woman. She began to move and talk a little. The son translated her words: "She came to Greece, leaving home, in Africa, she has a 16-year-old child with severe brain cancer, and there is practically no hope for him. And as soon as she came in, the side door of the cell opened, and, according to her, the elder in green vestments came out." She could not know that we have his green robes stored here - she was in Aegina for the first time, and she did not know anything about the saint. The saint said to this woman: "Do not worry, everything will be fine with your son." When she returned to Africa, she called us and told us that she had found her son completely healthy. ...

Have you ever thought that everything that touches you touches Me as well? For that which touches you touches the apple of My eye.
You are dear in my eyes, precious, and I have loved you; therefore it is a particular pleasure for Me to educate you.
When temptations arise against you, and the enemy comes like a river, I want you to know—This was from Me.
Your weakness needs My strength, and your safety comes from giving Me the opportunity to fight for you. If you find yourself in difficult circumstances, among people who do not understand you, who do not take what you like into consideration, who alienate you—This was from Me.
I am God, Who arranges circumstances. It was no accident that you find yourself in the place where you are; this is the place I have appointed for you. Did you not ask that I teach you humility? Well, then, look: I have placed you in precisely that place, in that school, where this lesson is learned. Your surroundings and those who live with you are only fulfilling My will. If you find yourself in financial difficulty, if you find it hard to make ends meet—This was from Me.
For I have your material means at my disposal. I want you to call unto me, for you to be dependent upon Me. My reserves are inexhaustible. I want you to be confirmed in fidelity to Me and to My promises. May it not be said to you in your need: “You did not believe in the Lord your God.”
Are you in a night of suffering? Are you separated from your loved ones and those close to your heart? This was from Me.
I am the Man of suffering, Who has tasted affliction. I have allowed this so that you would turn to Me, so that in Me you would find eternal comfort. If you have been let down by your friend, to someone to whom you opened your heart—This was from Me.
I allowed this disappointment to touch you so that you would know that your best friend is the Lord. I want you to bring everything to Me and to speak to Me.
Has someone slandered you? Give this to me, and bring your soul closer to Me, your Refuge, to hide from the “contradiction of the nations.” I shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your judgment as the noonday. (See below).

"He who seeks humility from God but does not accept the person that God sends him so as to humble him, does not know for what he is asking; for virtues are not purchased like groceries (as many kilos we want).
