I just had the craziest night last night. I had a deadline at midnight & had so much to do. I was literally shaking when I submitted my paper because the research session was so intense. Still made it thoooo !! My next two deadlines are this Wednesday and the week after that I have my first exam ... when am I going to find time to study? 😰 Are your deadlines also this stressful? ...
#lawstudent#jurastudium#jura#law#lawschool#lawstudent#lawyer#frustration#motivation#studying#studylaw#study#studygram#studymotivation ...
My name is Steph and I’m 22 years old. I’m currently studying a legal masters degree at Queen’s University in Human Rights and Criminal Justice. When I’m not working, studying or volunteering, I like to travel the world, seeing different countries, experiencing different cultures and meeting a variety of new people.
What inspired you to volunteer with IT? 🤗
As part of my law degree, I had to complete a 12,000 word dissertation on a subject that interested me. I chose to argue for a rights-based approach for victims of human trafficking for purposes of sexual exploitation and enforced prostitution. Having written extensively about it, I wanted to put my words into practice. I heard of Invisible Traffick and once I heard their vision, their mission and their dedication towards making the invisible ‘visible’ I couldn’t wait to become part of that team.
How do you volunteer, give an example of what you have done? 👍🏻
I have been lucky to get involved in lots of different projects - most recently being part of ‘The Journey’ which is a youth workshop focused on spreading awareness of human trafficking. I have also been involved with Chloë, who is our Youth Education Co-Ordinator, in visiting both primary and secondary schools around Northern Ireland and educating the younger generation on human trafficking. Finally, I have been involved in participating in presentations and workshops as well as helping out at our monthly craft night 🎨
How do you think volunteering has helped you? 🤔
Volunteering has helped me put my ambitions into practice. After graduating, I hope to become a fully-qualified human rights barrister who will represent human trafficking victims and advocate for a rights-based approach to be implemented in both the criminal justice system and legislation.
What would you say to anyone thinking about volunteering with IT? 💭
Absolutely do it! Join our team - combatting human trafficking and spreading awareness of our cause is something that we can’t do ourselves, we need as much support as possible. Together, we can end modern slavery once and for all.
Steph ❤️ xx ...
