Hereโ€™s to the longest 200 meters ever. Racing 6.2 miles is no joke. I have serious anxiety before races and usually I handle it, but letโ€™s just say, I went to bed the night before at 10:30 and couldnโ€™t sleep until 2:30am๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜ฌ waking up 3 hours later to race and add in a cold, didnโ€™t make for the best results mentally. While I had high hopes, I crossed the finish line a minute off of what I wanted. But, at the end of the day, while I was a little discouraged at first, it is all a learning process. I didnโ€™t get the negative splits I wanted, in fact I started out much faster than I finished, which I wanted to avoid, but, I was so happy to cross that finish line. I did PR, with a 39.22, 8th woman overall, and Iโ€™m so happy with the results. But this race has definitely taught me that the run is just as much mental, as it is physical. Instead of being down, I will get back out there, learn from it, figure out how to handle anxiety๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ’†๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ and continue to work hard. At the end of the day, putting on my shoes and going for a run, no matter the pace, makes the day sooooooo much better. First of all, you need to realize that getting and staying in shape is a life long thing. If you can accept that, you will have a much higher chance of getting the body you have always wanted. Many people have too short of a mentality and think that all they have to do is workout for 3 months and they will have the perfect body for the rest of their life. The people who have achieved their fitness goals and have maintained it are people who have made fitness a lifestyle instead of a temporary task.

Instead of going on a diet where you starve yourself or eat foods you hate, pick a diet that is healthy but something that you can also see yourself using for the long term. Fortunately, the healthier you get, the less you will crave for fatty, unhealthy foods. In terms of exercising, choose an amount of time that you can see yourself dedicating to each week for the next 3 years. Many people will start out working out 5-6 times a week, burn out, and quit. Don't set yourself up for failure. Remember, the key is to choose a diet and exercise regimen that you can tolerate for years to come. Once all of this becomes a habit, you won't even have to try. Just running to run.  5 miles, spent most of my run trying to make a decision about IM 70.3 VA.  The race is a little over 2 months out.  Iโ€™m signed up for it but Iโ€™m burned out.  Do I not do it so that Iโ€™m fresh for the next marathon training cycle?  I could then try and focus on increasing my speed. But on the other hand I know Iโ€™ll have major race FOMO plus lose my registration fee, and I do enjoy triathlon training. ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ I might need to take a deep look and see if I just train to finish how that would effect me.
