Christian Ferras performs Kreisler's Schön Rosmarin with pianist Bernard Gavoty.
Here, Ferras performs on the 1721 "Le Président" Stradivarius. From 1964 onwards, he performed on the 1728 "Milanollo" Stradivarius.
Ferras was born at Le Touquet in 1933. He began studying the violin with his father. He entered the Conservatoire de Nice as a student of Charles Bistesi in 1941. He worked with Romanian violinist George Enescu, who also acted as an instructor.
In addition, Ferras won the 2nd prize (1st prize was not awarded) in the prestigious International Marguerite Long-Jacques Thibaud Competition.
Christian Ferras struggled with severe lifelong depression. He committed suicide in Paris on 14 September 1982, aged 49.
