Lerro’s Candies has been making Easter (and everyday) sweeter in Philadelphia since 1916 - that’s right, 103 years!!! “Our own make candies” is the tagline on the South Broad Street storefront where 90 year old Carmella (swipe) has been behind the counter since 1943 ... she said she got a job there when it was still a classic soda fountain and then she married her boss ... “he knew what he was doing!” ... Now their grandson is a 4th generation candy maker. He’s 28 and a graduate of Wharton but he chose to enter the family business to make delicious candy with his father. Carmella said “they tell me to take it easy but I like being here... I like all the people who come in.” She also told me that generations of Lerro family members lived right upstairs! Classic mom & pop, the likes of which we rarely see anymore! PS, the chocolate covered pretzels are devine! 🍭🐣🍫 #HappyEaster#Candy#lerrocandy#royalsnappingartists#jj#igs_america#the_visionaries#SignCollective ...
