4 years ago I put my mental health on the back burner. My bother had passed away that year. I didn’t want anyone to see me hurt so I put a smile on each day and hid it all. Little did I know it was crushing me inside.
I decided to see a therapist, but it wasn’t my thing (they aren’t for everyone, but I was happy I tried).
That’s when I found meditation and slowly transitioned into finding yoga.
My whole. damn. life. changed. #worldmentalhealthday.

Benjamin Franklin Getting divorced in 2016 meant that 2017 was #improvementseason for me in every aspect. This year was all about rebuilding emotionally, spiritually, financially and of course physically. Is it bad to say I'm glad its over? Im ready to see what 2018 holds for me! I don't do resolutions but every year I do a 40 day detox to start the year. For 5 years it was a #vegan cleanse. Other years I've cut out alcohol, sugar, or TV. I’ve always felt like working on some of the harder skills like floating, handstands, jump throughs, etc. take not only a certain level of playfulness and non-attachment to the results of your practice, but the ability to fall down, or to ‘fail’ at what your attempting to do a thousand times, yet be willing to get back up and try again, a thousand more. 👏🏼

Here is a reel of some really awesome floats over a couple different days, amidst the ones that didn’t work out quite like I wanted.. keep in mind this is after I’ve been practicing this for years.. so you may continue to refine a skill, but even as I’ve been able to improve at floating my feet forward, I try not to be too attached to doing that all the time, or every day, or perfectly every single time. My body can feel different on different days, and some days may feel really awesome, while others just don’t; and then there are days when floating doesn’t even need to be a consideration.. just restorative rolling around on the floor. 😂

A week ago Tuesday on the way to teach a 6am yoga class @4gathletic in Jenison my Jeep engine blew up. Today I replaced her with this @honda Pilot 🙏

If you wonder why you would want a (daily) yoga practice its bc of these times. When you’re alone, freezing on the side of the road at 5:30am bc your car just 💩. Yoga wins again. 🙌

I just finished a nice run at the park. 😊 Seeing the birds fly is always so inspiring to me. It gives me a sense of freedom and reminds me to live in the moment. Do you stop to watch the birds? Do you stop to smell the roses?

If there's one thing that I continue to learn from this 8 day journey into our inner wildness - it's that love heals. We can do VERY deep work without needing to push or force ourselves to 'go there'. The unfolding and blossoming happens naturally by consciously creating a space that is full of support, nurturing, and space. When we give ourselves permission to authentically show up exactly as we are, magic happens.

We gather in middle of the Caribbean jungle at a sustainable permaculture center to be nurtured and embraced by the sensual jungle elements. I lovingly call it the 'womb of the jungle', because the space offers us a chance to go inwards and rebirth.

This intensive is just that - an intensive. We have carefully crafted a comprehensive curriculum to guide you into the inherent wildness of your soul. An UNDOMESTICATED woman is not always one with crazy hair, no bra, and hairy armpits (although all of those characteristics are MORE than welcome in the space ;)... She is a being who belongs so fully to herself, that she listens to the subtle truth that pulsates in her heart above ALL else. When she falters, it's her trust in her path that guides her back home.

Each day is filled with sacred movement, revolutionary women's health education (reprogramming the way you connect with menstruation, orgasm, communication, and more), and finally we end the day with ritual + ceremony.

We still have funds available for a partial scholarship to support a sister who feels the call to this experience.

I don’t believe in staying stagnant or feeling stuck. But I do believe in channeling stillness for clarity and peace of mind. The two are entirely different, but sometimes hard to differentiate from. Currently, I’m full on in exploring movement, but I’m also trying to better connect to stillness and meditation. Balance comes in many forms for us all, in layers, and intertwines. ⠀

Energy affects us, mind, body, and spirit and how we show up for, move through, with, against, or alongside these different shifts is our own personal journey. Unique and individual to our own process. ⠀
⠀
I’ve navigated quite a few healing and self work modalities over the years, inside and out, and often find that trying on new practices during different phases or seasons of one’s life to be important (I’m trying cupping soon and I’m so excited!) It’s through different experiences I have been able to embrace expansion. I have learned, evolved, grown (and this work never ends 😉) and most importantly, discovered what works best for my overall well being.

There is no one fast and easy formula that works for everyone, but I encourage anyone to explore and honor the many ways in which you can craft and build upon whatever lights you up and heightens your sense of self. That emphasizes feeling whole, healthy, and happy. That’s what defines wellness to me. ⠀
