“Hi my name is Maggie and this is my story.....” -Maggie
So to the many followers that already know Maggie’s story I’m sorry for the repeat but as we get more and more new friends who join us on our journey I want to be able to direct them somewhere to fully explain Maggie’s story to the best of our knowledge. So....->
Maggie was found in Beirut by a local animal rescuer. She was found pregnant, already missing her ear with very infected and mangled eyes. Her rescuer took her to the vet and looked after her as best he could but knew she deserved a family of her own. He posted about her on a Lebanese animal rescue group on Facebook asking for help with Maggie(back then her name was Angie)
This post was seen by an angel named Roxana. (Thank you for saving my baby Rox) She saw this post and I’m so grateful that she did, because roxana decided she was going to help save Maggie. Roxana had saved her own dog from Lebanon and knew how to get Maggie out but she needed to raise the funds. Rox busted her butt and pestered all her friends and family to raise the money to get Maggie to safety but that was only part of the battle, the next step was finding her a home.
She messaged @wild_at_heart_foundation who did some fundraising of their own and posted about Maggie in hopes of a foster or permanent home. That’s how I found her.
So how did she lose her eyes and ear? Unfortunately someone was very cruel to her and cut off her ear as well as shot her many times. 17 times to be exact. Roxana got her proper veterinary care in Lebanon. The vets deemed it best to neuter her, terminating her pregnancy. And when they went to sew her eyes shut they found and removed 4 bullets. The rest are still in her but no longer affect her or cause pain
Despite the abuse Maggie still loves life and amazingly still loves people. She truly is a WunderDog and I’m so proud to be her mom.
If you want to know any more about her rescue, condition or quality of life now please feel free to write it out in the comments below. I’ll try and answer all of them as best I can. 🥰 ...
If I’ve learned anything in the last few years, it is that your life has to be YOUR OWN. You can listen to and digest advice, but you can’t make decisions based upon other people’s experiences. Your gut feelings are your best guidance into uncharted territory.
Life is too short to be wasted on people, jobs, decisions, places, and whatever else that does not contribute to your personal growth. Make the decision to prioritize your happiness! 📷: @d__tsmith ...
