Verse of the Week: “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:18 . On Saturday, some of our team went to the Open Doors Celebration. This was a really powerful event designed to inform Christians about the persecuted Church and to honour those who are continually risking their lives to spread the Gospel and follow Jesus. One person shared this verse. For them, going to church is a dangerous business, but they were emphasising the importance of looking towards the unseen. We want to encourage you to learn a little more about what is going on in the world, but also reflect the verse above. Our focus is to press on towards Jesus and to hope for that day when we will be with Him forever. This should define how we live our lives, as we can be hopeful in a not so hopeful generation, and should seek to share that hope with others. You can find out more about the church across the world, prayer points for specific countries and how you can support the @opendoorsuk ministry on their social media and website... . . . #verseoftheweek #reflection #creative #writing #blogspot #blog #Bible #Bibleverse #youth #Christianyouth #youthchoir #youthorchestra #choir #orchestra #opendoorsuk #opendoors #worldwidechurch
“God has gently been teaching me about how fickle I am at times. I don’t know about you, but it is very easy to forget what God has done in your life when you’re feeling more distant, or you don’t get the answer to prayer that you wanted. It has been a real encouragement to me to consciously take time to look back this week – to “forget not all His benefits.” God has saved us, redeemed us and continues to invite us into His presence! It can be so easy to take this amazing, powerful truth for granted and forget about the magnitude of what Jesus did for us. The whole of this Psalm (it’s worth a read!) is a real reminder of all we have to praise God for when we forget. . I want to encourage you to spend some time reflecting on all that you have to thank God for. This can look however you want it to look. Having a pen and paper to write down what I want to focus on often helps my mind to stop wandering. Something I have found useful is to record how and when God has clearly spoken in one place. It can be really encouraging to flip through a notebook that is full of all God has revealed to you, even if it is something as simple as a line from a song. It can really help you to “forget not” in the future, too. However you choose reflect, let’s take time to thank Him today.” – Abbi . 📷: @wearlovealways . . . #verseoftheweek #reflection #creative #writing #blogspot #blog #Bible #Bibleverse #youth #Christianyouth #youthchoir #youthorchestra #choir #orchestra
“Recently God has been teaching me about resting. And not resting in the sense of having another hour in bed, or having the night in watching a film. I’m talking about taking distractions away and spending time with yourself, with your emotions and with your God. If the only time we actually rest is time with friends or on our phone or watching Netflix, then we can end up losing who we are or not truly keeping up with our true emotions. Actually, we’re doing a disservice to our bodies because our bodies need rest. God knew this, that’s why he created the sabbath for us. . Our bodies are a temple of the Holy Spirit and therefore we need to treat them and look after them. You can’t work without rest, if we’re trying to give out on an empty body that is never going to be fruitful. And for me, it took falling ill to realise this which is why I have chosen this verse. Spend time with your God, listen to his voice no matter whether you’ve never done that before or done it 1,000 times before. Ask him to speak, offer up your ears, your attention and your time to him even if it’s not as long as you’d like. Allow him to fill you with his healing and his strength. And allow him to reveal to you his plans, or maybe it may be an encouragement that you really need to hear at the moment. But rest, take time out, away from the distractions of the world and I pray that you may find joy in being still with God who loves you beyond measure.” - Beth . 📷: @wearlovealways . . #verseoftheweek #reflection #creative #writing #blogspot #blog #Bible #Bibleverse #youth #Christianyouth #youthchoir #youthorchestra #choir #orchestra
“Trust is a big word. It’s very easy to trust someone in our daily, human lives. But to trust completely in God is a whole different matter. Trust, once lost or betrayed, isn’t easy to reclaim. I find it very easy to say I trust in God and then the next day find myself relying on my strengths and not his. I tell myself that I’ll pray whenever a difficult situation arises. But then I go in to a panic and it slips my mind. . Having been in some tough situations over the past year and a half I found myself worrying that there was no way out. I knew deep down that I had to give everything to God. And I tried very hard to do that. It seemed bleak at the time but now I’m out of the situation, I can look back and see how every little thing worked together in order to create the bigger picture. I know now that if things hadn’t happened the way that they did, then I wouldn’t have some of the friends I have today. Something as small as a forgotten pair of shoes contributed to a friendship that will last a lifetime. . God’s plans are the best. It might not seem that way, but everything works together according to those plans. It might not seem that way right now but whatever situation you are in. God knows what he is doing. So, we have to trust in that. Is there a situation in your life where you need to trust in God’s plan? Spend time praying to him and remember that he will never leave you.” - Cai . 📷: @wearlovealways . . . #verseoftheweek #reflection #creative #writing #blogspot #blog #Bible #Bibleverse #youth #Christianyouth #youthchoir #youthorchestra #choir #orchestra

This week's reflections... “Read this verse and honestly ask yourself these questions. In day to day life it is so easy to live trying to please other people or trying to please yourself by living up to your own unrealistic standards. However, if someone's opinion matters to you more than God's opinion, then this verse is aimed at you. . The verse does not mean you're not a Christian any more if you've lost sight of who you're trying to please. But there is a problem. We all should live to make God happy, by keeping his commands. That doesn't always please other people, especially if you have friends who try to pressure you into doing things you know aren't right. Jesus didn't please everyone. A lot of people disagreed with him. He just followed God and loved everyone, without allowing the disagreements to worry him. That's how we should be. If not everyone liked Jesus, we can expect not to please everyone as well. . Equally, though, this doesn't mean that we can do whatever we want because we're not trying to please other people. The greatest commandment is to love God with all we are. But the second greatest is to love other people as ourselves. We don't need to let their opinions matter to us more than God's opinion, but we need to treat people with respect and show them the love Jesus shows us. Also, God never asks us to have more skills than he's given us. Where we or other people may be disappointed if we aren't as talented as someone else, God has is pleased when we use the talents he's given us, regardless of how they compare to other people.” - Abi . . . #verseoftheweek #reflection #creative #writing #blogspot #blog #Bible #Bibleverse #youth #Christianyouth #youthchoir #youthorchestra #choir #orchestra

Beth shares our verse of the week and her thoughts on this part of the Bible specifically.... . “I love these verses as they are used as an analogy for the church. God joins together and unites us into a strong temple. How amazing that we can be a part of that! The Holy Spirit lives in us- we are the temple. God’s love can be found in each of us if we have given our lives to God. But it doesn’t stop there! We, as Christians are constantly being built together. God’s church is in construction and we can be built in, too. We are broken bricks but God is creating something so precious that his presence can dwell in it!” - Beth . 📷: @wearlovealways . . #verseoftheweek #reflection #creative #writing #blogspot #blog #Bible #Bibleverse #youth #Christianyouth #youthchoir #youthorchestra #choir #orchestra

“Life feels like a bit of a whirlwind sometimes, doesn’t it? We have voices coming from every direction asking us things and telling us what to do. We have decisions to make and challenges to face, and at the end of the day, that can get exhausting! We feel like we have to make snappy decisions about everything and when those options don’t work out the way we plan, we feel so disheartened; but take heart in the knowledge that God has a plan outside of our time frame. It is not rushed and it is tailor-made to you. Even when we become frustrated and muddled, God will use those experiences somehow to help you reach what He really has planned. Walking closely with God will help us to see how this works. All He wants is a few minutes of our undivided attention; for us to crawl into His lap and just be in his presence. This is such a challenge, but that precious time will multiply. When I really take this time, I have a new sense of calm and clarity and feel able to push forward, however I feel. . What decisions will you have to make this week? Has God clearly shown you what He wants you to do in these situations? Take a minute to ask God to show you what (not) to do and to guide you through your day … I often ask for wisdom and patience as a starting point!” - Izzy . . . #verseoftheweek #reflection #creative #writing #blogspot #blog #Bible #Bibleverse #youth #Christianyouth #youthchoir #youthorchestra #choir #orchestra
Some of our members and team have put together some reflections to share our 'Verse of the Week'. We hope that they will encourage you to reflect on the truths of God's word. Lydia has shared her thoughts on this verse to start us off... . Take a moment to think about and remember all of the incredible creations you have seen. An example may be the amazing sunsets that we saw from the hill whilst on our residential, or an awe-inspiring landscape. Think about the power that would be needed to create these things, and all the rest of the creations in the world that we have not seen. The one who has this incredible power is also the one that has an incredibly forgiving and unconditional love for each and every one of us, and who will help us through our struggles and guide us in our lives. I encourage each and every one of you to never forget God’s love for YOU! God is SO powerful, but don’t let that make you think that you are small or insignificant to God. You all matter to him, are all loved by him, and all have an important part to play in his plan! . . . #verseoftheweek #reflection #creative #writing #thoughts #Bible #Bibleverse #youth #Christianyouth #youthchoir #youthorchestra #choir #orchestra
